Another brisk autumn day was upon the Earth and it was business as usual for Slug out in the wilderness. Hanging upside down, he had his legs locked on to a tree as he was doing suspended crunches. Losing count somewhere in amongst a few hundred he had decided to just keep banging them out until he got bored. However, Slug’s focus was not solely on his training has the memories of recent events had his mind reeling. As if the encounter with the strange cyborg-man known as Android 13 earlier in the day wasn’t enough, Slug still had the seemingly never ending threat of being hunted down by the surrounding cities. Furthermore, he had grown evermore curious about the mystery surrounding whoever looked like himself and had been committing all the crimes Slug was being blamed for. Maybe this person had the same origins as Slug himself and could provide some insight to his questions. It was these questions that pushed and motivated Slug to train so tirelessly. Whoever this other “green demon” like criminal was, he was sure to be a tougher opponent then any being Slug had encountered thus far on Earth. Growing bored with his workout, Slug lowered himself to the ground, falling to his chest and immediately began to do push-ups, counting out loud softly, “1,2,3…”
After so long, the green alien decided to intensify his workout by propping his legs up against the tree and doing one armed push-ups. Rotating between arms he did this for some time until he again grew bored with his isolated training. Walking to a nearby field he discovered an abundance of medium sized rocks and boulders scattered throughout the area. Deciding to work on strength as well as accuracy of his eye beam, Slug began to gather up a pile of rocks. After he had gathered a large portion of decently sized rocks, he began tossing them into the air as high as possible. Then, using his eye beams be tried to shoot the rocks, splitting them into pieces and then attempting to shoot the smaller pieces all in mid air. Results varied, but It was good practice and helped with strength, conditioning, and accuracy of his beams. Once Slug’s inventory of boulders had been exhausted, he decided it was time to give is ki some rest and go get some water from the river.
Approaching the water slowly, Slug dipped his hands into the water and raised nature’s beautiful nectar to his lips for a refreshing drink. Pouring some water over his head and washing off a bit Slug was really beginning to enjoy the life of solitude out in the wilderness of the Earth. But he had spoke to soon, as his ears suddenly picked up the sound waves being emitted from some sort of machinery nearby. Slug immediately went into defense mode, ducked down and crawled swiftly over to the embankment where we poked his head over the edge of the hill to survey the area. A sports utility vehicle had pulled off the dirt road nearby and parked alongside of the river. A group of humans got out and began to play loud music as they set up camp. They were being rowdy, drinking, and it looked as though they were having some sort of campout party.
The loud music could barely be heard across the distance, yet the over sensitive ears of Slug were being flooded with the loud tunes that he didn’t care for. Suddenly, one of the female humans who had wandered away from the group had spotted Slug. “Looook! A frog man!!!” The only phrase that could be heard as she shrieked across the field. Slug quickly ducked down, ran down the other side of the embankment and found some cover amongst some brush. No more than a few minutes later the rest of the group was scouring the riverside. The males of the group could be heard talking, “A frog man huh?! You must be drunk, girl!” Slug was hiding behind a rather large tree as the group of humans were searching along the river only a few hundred feet away.
One of the campers who was hell bent on finding their friend’s “frog-man” was actually starting to wander pretty close to where Slug had been perched. At this point, slug realized fleeing was no longer an option since they’d obviously see or hear him and likely report him to the authorities. They didn’t look like much of fighters though, he decided his best bet would likely be to try and scare them away. As the human was turning past the area of trees next to him, Slug darted around the other side of the tree line to sneak up on him. Resting his hand on the man’s shoulder, the man turned expecting the comfort of on his friends to see a large green reptile-like alien hovering over him. The camper yelped, reaching for a knife in his boot and raised it attempting to stick the knife into Slug’s side. However, Slug countered niftily, grabbing the kid’s arm short of his target and squeezing his wrist until it snapped and the knife fell to the ground. The man shouted in pain as his companions now realized there was something vicious going on. Immediately slug thought to himself, “I guess scaring them isn’t going to work…” as he darted into the tree line of the forest.
The injured camper ran up over the embankment to his friends yelling, “HOLY F**CKING SH*T!!! There is a god damn dinosaur-man down there and he just broke my wrist!” The man held his arm up to show his friends who all grimaced in pain as his hand and lower wrist were dangling from his arm by his skin. He fell to the ground in pain, whimpering and refusing to move. The smallest of the female companions began throwing up and started running back to their vehicle, the other female followed her to console. The last two companions of the campers were two men, who puffed their chests up and headed down over the embankment to look for the dinosaur-man who had assaulted their friend.
Slug had slipped about 20 feet back into the forest and took refuge up in a tree, surveying the area to see if they had followed. The two companions were searching the tree line and soon began to work their way into the forest. One after the other with about 10 feet between them, the two men headed down the beaten path looking around for clues. Suddenly, Slug crashed down on the trailing partner, grappling him to the ground. Slug slashed his right hand’s fingernails deep into his victim’s chest cavity and turned his grip twisting violently. With each finger and nail now penetrating a few inches into the chest and churning, the victim let out a loud shriek as warm red blood began to pour out of his body. The leader of the partnership had turned back hearing his peer’s shouting just in time to witness Slug’s artwork. The leader began running at them in an attempt to break up the quarrel, but instantly Slug whipped his head around locking eyes with the human. A succession of eye beams ripped through the sky penetrating the human’s chest, face, and neck area to the point of fatal wounds. The man fell to the ground a burning bloody mess. Both of Slug’s latest victims lay on the ground, a few feet from each other suffering from mortal wounds as they screamed in suffering.
Slug grabbed each of them by one leg and began dragging them back to where the original wrist victim had crashed in shock. Their wounds an flesh grinding into the dirt and mud as their assailant dragged them to what they figured to be their ultimate demise. Returning to wear the original victim, Slug found him laying in the fetal position. He tossed the other two alongside the first; lining all three up in the field.
“Get up,” Slug demanded. “GET UP!!!” Still, none of the three moved in any way that resembled rising to their feet. Slug began kicking them lightly, taunting one of them to return to his feet. Finally, the second victim who had his internal organs blended via Slug was on his knees and attempting to get to his feet. Bleeding profusely from his gut, the human clang to Slug’s garments for support as he slowly pulled himself to his feet. Once on his feet, he was hunched over barely able to support his weight in his wounded state. Slug gave a light golf clap, amusing his captive.
“Good job. Do you want to know your prize?” Slug mocked the man, smirking with an evil grin.
Barely able to speak the man was able to mumble, “Wha-what..?”
“First one to go. Lights out!!” Slug let out a shrilling roar as he reared back an sent an elbow strike dead aimed into the bridge of the man’s nose that sent a rebound of blood splatter as the man fell lifeless to the ground.
Slug stepped back over to the other two captives and pondered his next move. His eyes shifted to the right as he suddenly heard the vehicle from earlier approaching louder and louder. Then it burst over the horizon of the embankment, driven by the two female companions from earlier. The SUV came barreling over the embankment like a bat out of hell, the driver’s pedal to the floor as the engine roared. The female driver was steering straight for the green alien who had assaulted her friends with obvious intention to run the assailant over. Staying still as if he hadn’t noticed, Slug picked up the broken-wristed captive by his neck, holding him above the ground as the vehicle roared closer and closer. With not a moment to spare, Slug flipped up into the air, dangling his victim below him as the vehicle ripped down the embankment hitting the captive. Slug continued his aerial landing harmlessly out of the vehicle’s path as the SUV tore through the man and continued his raging trajectory off into the tree line where it crashed violently into a violent explosion. At this point, the last remaining captive who had been shot repeatedly with the eye beams had come to in time to witness the entire event. As he sat there a cold hand reached around his neck as he felt his body being dragged up the hill.
Slug drug the captive to the top of the embankment, away from the car crash and the other dead or dying victims. Dragging the man alongside the dirt road, Slug laid the man down. Stepping over him, Slug stomped his feet down twice, crushing each of the man’s ankle’s as he let out a yelping cry of pain. Burned, injured, and now hobbled the man laid along the road. Slug then spoke, “I’m not going to murder you, kid. As far as I am concerned, you all started this and I just finished it. All I wanted was my solitude but you humans just won’t let me alone. Well, I am leaving you here for the vultures. Enjoy what little sliver of life you have left.” Slug chuckled as he spit to the ground near his victim’s face. Gathering himself, Slug took off into the wilderness in search of a better spot to find isolation from the world’s distractions.
Hiking through the wooded wilderness, Slug continued until he found a spot he was content with. Eventually he stumbled upon a small clearing that provided plenty of cover and was far from any hiking trails or dirt roads. A river with a strong current provided a lot of utility and Slug’s first move was to wash himself clean of all the blood and grit from the earlier assault. Once he was cleaned of his filth and helped himself to a few servings of fresh water it was time again to get back to his training.
Realizing that formidable sparing partners were not going to be at hand out in this wilderness, Slug decided he would practice on some of the strong tall trees in the area. Practicing combinations of punches and kicks on the trees didn’t provide a moving target, yet it did provide a strengthening and hardening of the extremities. Slug left divots and chopped huge chunks on tree after tree as he practiced his moves. Again trying to focus on accuracy, Slug began shooting eye beams at the smallest possible targets such as branches on the trees, small bugs, and other assorted scenery. After a while of this he stopped, barely exhausted from all the training. “Not good enough… I need a live body in there if I want to get some real experience…”
Slug gave up on his previous training and returned to the small camp he had arranged along the river. Relaxing or a few moments he decided to meditate for awhile. Reflecting upon the happenings of the day, Slug really felt no remorse for what had happened with the campers. As far as he was concerned, any human or any other life form that attempted to hunt him down or attack him for anything he hadn’t done would just be considered a casualty of war. More importantly, he was making little to no progress on finding out more on the origins of himself and his purpose. Still he had no answers as to his race or how he had ultimately ended up on this planet known as Earth. His plan was to wait until news of the other green alien committing the crimes popped up in the news again. Follow that and see if he can’t come up with any answers… Slug continued to ponder to himself in meditation when he was alarmed by the presence of a large beast who was sipping water from the river.
The large ugly beast didn’t look to ferocious, it resembled a large rhino or dinosaur like animal with horns and a large mouth. It was as large as a big elephant with scaly skin and it continued to munch on the brush alongside the river and frequent drinks from the river. Slug stood up, approaching the beast to see what kind of reaction it would have. “The humans haven’t been all that accepting of me, let’s see how these other wildlife respond to my presence,” Slug thought to himself as he walked towards the great beast. As he got within ten feet the beast noticed, turning quickly towards Slug and making a hybrid grunt-growl kind of noise. “Eaaasyyy there…” Slug murmured as the beast began stomping its front foot and scraping it along the ground, almost as if it was preparing to charge. Slug backed up a little and suddenly the beast gave chase, charging directly for Slug raising its horns at him. Slug jumped up, spinning as he shot eye beams straight into the great beast’s eyes. It blinded the beast which charged straight into the tree line crashing into the trees as its great weight splintered and broke a dozen or so trees. The beast wrestled itself to its feet, blinded and bloodied kicking and raging out in a scared anger. Slug rushed the beast, jumping and flashing around it, landing punches and kicks into its body as it blindly kicked and threw itself around wildly trying to fend off its assailant. Hit after hit sank into the beasts body as Slug continued to slam on it. Because of its huge size and thick skin, the beast’s defense against Slug’s melee was strong. Yet, hit after hit took its toll on the beast as the blows began to soften it up. With its eyes disabled and no potent offense to deliver, the beast took beating after beating from Slug who was taking his time, almost toying with the beast just to try out different moves on a live target with such great endurance. Growing bored with the beast, Slug started grabbing the broken pieces of trees created by the animal’s crash. Gathering the limbs up, Slug grabbed the ones with sharper splintered ends and began throwing them into the beast’s beaten-soft skin. Each makeshift spear punctured the beast, each one ripping the life slowly from the animal until it finally collapsed.
“Good practice… Whew…” Slug spit to the ground and smirked. “Too, bad all this meat is gonna go to waste.” Slug went back to his campsite to wash off. He sat back down to meditate and focus on his task at hand. When the time comes for action, he must be ready…
