Slug had been stuck in solitude out in the wilderness for weeks, and tonight he finally decided to head into civilization out of boredom. Darkness fell upon the earth as night was setting in while Slug strolled into the outskirts of West City. It was very dark and the streets were all but empty. Slug walked slowly, wearing his Namekian Battle Armor and a large plain linen cloak covering his head and body. Walking up a side street he came to a corner of a bar that had a few locals outside drinking and holding conversation. Slug dipped into the alley and eavesdropped on their conversation to listen about the happenings of Earth, West City, and rumors of portals popping up around the globe for some fighting tournament. After a few minutes, Slug continued on through town realizing that all the hype about the green monster man killing people had apparently died down a little bit. Maybe it was about time he began a little more mischief? Or perhaps it was a good time to take advantage of the situation and be less ostracized from society. Slug began to realize that he had lost sight of his purpose. For the longest time the people of Earth had repelled him and he accepted that position. While Slug was pondering his purpose and situation on Earth, his guard had been let down and he hadn’t realized what he had stumbled upon.
Walking down a narrow back alley, he realized a few men standing in his path at the end of the block. Slowing his pace, he turned his head realizing that the path behind him was blocked with 3 more men following him. Still unsure what was going on he headed towards the end of the street where the first 4 men were standing who had now blocked his path. Two of them were holding aluminum baseball bats, and the other half had brass knuckles. Slug laughed to himself, realizing again why he enjoyed the tormenting the idiotic inhabitants of planet earth. The other 3 behind him walked up and the group of 7 surrounded Slug. Slug smiled as he sized up the gang who had surrounded him.
The leader of the gang shouted at Slug, “You don’t know what you just walked into pal. This is our neighborhood. If you want to come through here you gotta pay the tax. Who do you think you are?”
Slug smirked, and laughed quietly. He grabbed the top of his cloak and ripped it off, throwing it to the ground to reveal his green skin. “I want to thank you, heh, heh.”
The gang was shocked as the leader replied, “You? You’re the… Thank me?”
“For reminding me of what I enjoy most.” Slug snapped to action as he lunged forward grabbing the leader by the neck and squeezing it closed. His two allies with bats came swinging at Slug who used his hostage as a meat shield to take the hits of the baseball bats. With his free hand Slug fired a Kakusan Yuudou which surrounded the two batmen and pummeled them to the ground with ki balls. Slug tossed the gang leader to the ground who rolled over in pain grabbing his caved in esophagus in pain. One by one Slug disposed of the rest of the hang with focused kicks and punches with such speed and technique that not one of the untrained fighters could handle. After laying waste to the crew of hooligans, Slug chuckled to himself as he grabbed his cloak and headed on down the street. He was silently content after being reminded what he enjoyed so much about his encounters on Earth. He may never be able to fit in with the humans here, but at least he could enjoy the times they would attack him and he would put them in their place. It was never Slug’s intent to go looking for trouble, but it just had a way of finding him. And Slug had no problem finishing what others were willing to start.
Slug continued on down the road until he came to another more populated bar that had a large community of people outside drinking and talking. Slug found a good hiding spot nearby and listened in to see if he could hear anymore rumors about the mysterious portals. If the rumors of a large intergalactic fighting tournament were true then he figured it would be the best place to find information about his own origins and race. And maybe the green skinned fighter who looked like him from Earth would also be at the tournament. It was definitely his best bet on finding some answers. To Slug’s surprise, the portals were a huge topic of conversation amongst the bar patrons. Apparently a portal had popped up just outside the Northern city limits of West City and everyone was talking about. It was just the information he needed. Slug gathered himself and flew up into the air heading off to the Northern parts of West City to look for the portal.
Before long, Slug had landed down in the Northern outskirts of West City and began looking for clues for the whereabouts of the portal. Slug had a feeling he was close but he headed a little further away from the city limits and soon found a group of kids who were talking about going down by the river to throw rocks at the people watching the portal. Laughing to himself he flew off towards the river and soon spotted a gathering of people who were taking pictures of the portal and hanging out. He landed down a few hundred yards away from the gathering of people and began to walk up on them slowly. Casually he walked up into the group and began watching the portal with them. Nobody seemed to notice him as he stood pondering to himself about attempting to jump into the portal. He walked up closer to it and the group of bystanders began to notice him. One man walked up and said, “Hey, you’re not thinking of jumping in that are you? It’s only for people who want to enter some big fighting tournament. I don’t think you should. You don’t look too tough.”
Slug looked back at him through his cloak and the man noticed what didn’t look to be human. Slug opened his cloak a little bit and revealed his face as the crowd began to step back. “Is that all?” Slug asked to the crowd as he waited for someone to say something or try to attack him. Slug snapped into a fighting stance, yelled loud and revealed his sharp fang like teeth. The crowd screamed and began to flee, scattering off into the night except for a few brave ones who stood there looking nervous but not wanting to back down. “Well? Anyone want to give me a warm up before I head into this portal? Huh?!”
A few of the men remaining looked at each other, then one rushed Slug. The man threw a punch as he lunged at Slug. Slug dodged it, grabbed the man by the head and slammed him to the ground. He fired a ki explosion and destroyed the man to bits. The others remaining looked at each other and then took off into the night. Slug laughed, fixed his cloak and wiped off his boots. He turned, gazed at the portal one last time and jumped into it, hoping he’d wind up at this Intergalactic Tournament and not some alternate dimension or hell…
